TIME TO HUNT and POROSITY VALLEY 2 Invited to 70th Berlinale Sidebars
The 70 Berlin International Film Festival has been steadily revealing its program over the last few weeks and among its many sections will be three Korean projects, including Hong Sangsoo’s new film with KIM Min-hee, The Woman Who Ran, which will feature in the festival’s competition section. The sci-fi thriller Time to Hunt will have a Berlinale Special Gala screening and the video art installation Porosity Valley 2: Tricksters’ Plot (2019) will be featured in the Forum: Expanded program.
The Woman Who Ran is the 24th film by Hong Sangsoo and his seventh collaboration with KIM Min-hee. The film is reported to have completed production just this month. The film is Director Hong’s fourth to secure an invitation to the Berlinale Competition (and seventh to any Berlinale program), following Night and Day (2008), Nobody’s Daughter Haewon (2013) and On the Beach at Night Alone (2017). KIM Min-hee became the first Korean actress to win the Silver Bear for Best Actress in Berlin, for her role in On the Beach at Night Alone (2017).
From artist KIM A-young, Porosity Valley 2: Tricksters’ Plot (2019) follows her earlier 2017 work Porosity Valley: Portable Holes. Having its international premiere in Berlin, the film will be presented as a two-channel installation and explores global migration.
The 70th Berlinale will take place from February 20 to March 1.
