New Drama from HARMONY Director Wraps Shoot
According to distributor CJ Entertainment, the upcoming Collateral (translated title) wrapped up production on July 31. The film stars HA Ji-won, in her first Korea screen role in three years, SUNG Dong-il and KIM Yun-jin.
In the film, SUNG Dong-il plays a debt collector who takes a woman’s child as collateral. KIM Yun-jin plays the mother while HA Ji-won plays the daughter, after she has grown up.
HA Ji-won, who is known for a wide spectrum of genre cinema such as the K-horror A nightmare (2000), the period swordplay action-drama The Duelist (2005) and the disaster action film Sector 7 (2011), hasn’t been seen on the big screen in Korea since the comedy Life Risking Romance (2016). Though she did appear in John WOO’s Manhunt more recently in 2017.
SUNG Dong-il, currently on screens in the occult horror Metamorphosis, has recently scored box office hit as the co-star of the popular THE ACCIDENTAL DETECTIVE action-comedies. KIM Yun-jin is known around the world for her starring role in the ABC hit series Lost, which ran for six seasons between 2004 and 2010. The cast also features KIM Hee-won (The Merciless, 2017) and new child actress PARK So-yi, who was plucked from auditions.
Collateral will mark the return of director KANG Dae-gyu following on almost ten years after his last film, the hit women’s prison drama Harmony (2010), also with KIM Yun-jin. In the interim, he has worked on scripts for the mountaineering hit The Himalayas (2015) and the spy action-comedy smash Confidential Assignment (2017).
Currently in post-production, Collateral is aiming to hit theaters before the end of the year.
