K-Movie Entertainment’s Buffs Up Inaugural Slate
K-Movie Entertainment, a brand new Korean sales outfit that was established in August and launched at the Asian Film Market in Busan last month, has revealed a trio of major pickups to add to its burgeoning slate. All currently in pre-production, the titles include KANG Yun-sung’s THE OUTLAWS 2, CHANG’s Body to Body remake Body Snatch (working title) and YOON Jae-keun’s fantasy action Out of Body.
Director KANG and star Don LEE (aka MA Dong-seok), who found great success with the crime drama THE OUTLAWS, the top-selling Chuseok holiday title in 2017 with almost 7 million viewers (USD 50.3 million), are set to reunite on a sequel that will commence shooting in summer 2019.
From the director of 2014 Cannes Midnight Screenings selection The Target, Body Snatch is a remake of the 2003 French thriller Body to Body, which concerns a stripper who unknowingly finds herself attached to a deranged transplant surgeon. The Target was also a remake of a French thriller, 2010’s Point Blank. The project is expected to begin shooting early next year.
Out of Body, the latest from Heartbeat (2010) director YOON, will feature YOON Kye-sang (THE OUTLAWS) who loses his memory and wakes up in a different body each day. Shooting will commence towards the end of the year for an intended 2019 release.
All three projects are being produced by B.A. Entertainment. K-Movie Entertainment’s slate also includes The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil, another Don LEE project from LEE Won-tae, the director of MAN OF WILL (2017).
