JEONG Hee-jae Triumphs in Kazakhstan
JEONG Hee-jae’s indie drama A Haunting Hitchhike (2017) has picked up a Special Jury Prize from the recently concluded 14th Eurasia International Film Festival. Held in Kazakhstan, the film festival took place over July 1-7.
The drama follows Jeong-ae, a 16-year-old girl who lives with her ailing father in an area earmarked for redevelopment in Seoul. Her father believes it’s easier to give up but she wants to find a way out of her hardship. When she receives word from her long-lost mother one day, she sets out to find her.
Director JEONG previously made short films such as Bokja (2008) and A company on a dead gloomy night (2011).
Meanwhile, HAN Dae-kwang’s short film Three Moonswas also invited to screen at the Eurasia International Film Festival as part of its short film competition.
