LAST CHILD Invited to Young Cinema Competition
Featuring in the ‘Young Cinema Competition’ section will be
SHIN Dong-seok’s debut film
Last Child. A competitor in the ‘New Currents’ section of the
Busan International Film Festival last year, the film went on to be to featured as a ‘Forum’ invitee at this year’s Berlinale and features two grieving parents who grow close to the boy that was saved by their son on the day of his death.
Hong Sangsoo is back in the Hong Kong lineup with his 22nd work, the black and white
Grass, which debuted last month in the ‘Forum’ section of the Berlin International Film Festival and teams him up with
KIM Min-hee for the fifth time, along with familiar faces such as
KIM Sae-byuk (also in fellow HKIFF invitee
The First Lap),
JUNG Jin-young and
SEO Young-hwa. The film is screening in the ‘Master’ program.
The ‘Indie Power’ section will screen
KIM Dae-hwan’s second feature
The First Lap, a Jeonju Cinema Project from last year, which earned the Best Emerging Director Award from the Locarno International Film Festival in August.
Finally,
PARK Ki-yong’s
Old Love, another work that premiered in Busan before screening in Berlinale's ‘Forum’ program, rounds out the selection of Korean titles invited to this year’s HKIFF in the ‘Global Vision’ section.

The Big Picture which has been invited to compete in the Hong Kong Asian Financing Forum (HAF), which runs alongside HKIFF and the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market.
