HAN Ji-min and PARK Hyung-sik Team Up for TWO RAYS OF LIGHT
Melodrama specialist
HUR Jin-ho is returning with a new short film this month, following last year’s period drama
The Last Princess, the biggest box office hit of his career.
Two Rays of Light (literal title) is a romantic drama that features
HAN Ji-min and ZE:A pop group member PARK Hyung-sik as its leads.
HAN plays Soo-young, an aromatherapist suffering from visual impairment while PARK is portraying piano tuner In-soo, who is beginning to lose his sight. The pair meets at a photography club and gets to know each other.
Director HUR debuted with the classic melodrama
Christmas in August in 1998 and has been behind some of Korea’s most timeless romantic dramas, such as
One Fine Spring Day (2001) and
April Snow (2005). Re-teaming with his
April Snow star
SON Ye-jin last year, HUR reached a new career benchmark when
The Last Princess soared to 5.6 million admissions (USD 40.67 million) and was prominently featured at end of year industry awards, particularly for SON’s performance in the lead.
Last seen in
KIM Jee-woon’s
The Age of Shadows, HAN will soon be back on screens alongside
LEE Byung-hun in the drama
That’s Only My World. Known for his work with the K-pop group ZE:A, PARK has been making strides as an actor in recent years, having recently appeared in several Korean TV dramas, such as
High Society and
Hwarang.
