DEAD IN THE LAKE Comes to Life at IFFAM

Director IM Sang-soo may be back behind a camera before long as his new project Dead in the Lake has been invited to participate in the project market of this year’s 2nd International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao.

Described as a chilling thriller, Dead In The Lake will unite IM with producer LEE Namhee. LEE produced IM’s most recent two films, The Taste of Money (2012) and Intimate Enemies (2015) and has also taken part in the production teams of several other commercial projects, including Take Off (2009) and its sequel Run-Off last year.

Dead in the Lake follows a woman who witnesses her husband’s death when his car crashes after hitting a deer. Yet when drugs which may have caused a heart attack are found in his system, she is pinned as a murder suspect by the police. Meanwhile, her father tries to protect her from a mysterious stranger in a lake house.

IM is known for his edgy and controversial films which have explored subjects such as teen runaways (Tears, 2001), infidelity (A Good Lawyer's Wife, 2003) and the assassination of former president PARK Jung-hee (The President's Last Bang, 2005). He also took part in the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival with The Housemaid (2010), a remake of KIM Ki-young’s 1960 original, and The Taste of Money.

Only in its second year, the IFFAM Project Market has already welcomed several notable filmmakers, with first year guests including Nicholas Winding Refn (Drive), Erik Matti (On the Job) and Mattie Do (Dearest Sister).
