Hong’s 19th film, On the Beach at Night Alone premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February, where it earned the Silver Bear for Best Actress for KIM Min-hee. It has been traveling the festival circuit ever since. This year’s BFI selection marks his 10th invitation to the festival.
WON Shin-yun’s latest feature MEMOIR OF A MURDERER, an adaptation of KIM Young-ha’s novel, stars SUL Kyung-gu as a serial killer suffering from Alzheimer’s who tries to protect his daughter from another killer. The film opens in local theaters this week.
The latest work from acclaimed documentary filmmaker JUNG Yoon-suk, who made Non Fiction Diary in 2014, rock music and political activism doc Bamseom Pirates Seoul Inferno debuted at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and is currently on release in South Korea.
From directors MOON Chang-yong and JEON Jin, Becoming Who I Was follows a young buddhist monk’s travails in Tibet. The film also debuted in Berlinale this year.
This year’s BFI London Film Festival will take place from October 4th to 15th.
