Awards Announced for 14th Asiana International Short Film Festival
The 14th edition of the
Asiana International Short Film Festival (AISFF) brought its 6-day run to a close on November 8th, revealing this year’s award winners. The International Competition Grand Prize winner was Elnura Osmonalieva’s
Seide from Kyrgyzstan, while
YI Ok-seop and
KOO Kyo-hwan earned the Grand Prize in the Korean Competition for
Fly to the Sky.
YI and KOO have made several films and were also involved in the omnibus feature
Now Playing, originally released in 2014, while KOO is also an indie film actor, who won the Best Actor of the Year award from the
Busan International Film Festival this year for his role in the breakout film
Jane.
Also in the international lineup, Juanjo Giménez of Spain won the Special Jury Award for
Timecode, while the AISFF Rock Award went to the German short
Trial & Error by Antje Heyn. In the Korean lineup, it was
LEE Chung-hyun who took the Special Jury Award for
Bargain.
Looking at what audiences have to say, it was The Sound of Concrete by István Kovács of Hungary who took home the AISFF Public Jury Award while the Face in Short Award went to LEE Chung-hyun once again, picking up his second prize for local short Bargain.
Meanwhile, this year’s AISFF Fund Award went to the Korean short
Nose Nose Nose Eyes! by
Moon Ji-won.
This year’s AISFF opened with Sing by Hungarian filmmaker Kristof Deak.
