JIMFF Announces List of Its Films

The 11th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF) unveiled its films on July 14. The film jubilee will run in and around Jecheon of North Chungcheong Province from August 13 through 18.
 
The JIMFF selected Try to Remember directed by as KIM Dae-hyun  its opening film. Try to Remember is a documentary about Korea’s first vocal group ‘Kim Sisters’. The trio consisted of two daughters and a niece of Lee Nan-young who was a star singer in the 1930s and 1940s. They took Las Vegas of the USA for the first time as Asian singers, making a big sensation in America in the 1960s. 
 
This year, the festival will feature 101 films from 25 countries. Its programs are 'World Music Film Today' (International Competition), 'Cinema Concert' where The Phantom of the Opera starring Harold Lloyd and Grandma’s Boy will be screened with live music performances and 'Special Ballet Film Collection' which will feature documentaries about Agnes Letestu who was called ‘Queen of the Paris Opera Ballet’ and Ulyana Lopatkina, a star of Russia’s Mariinsky Ballet Company.
 
Many Korean musicians will visit Jecheon for the festival. too. A wide variety of outdoor performances will be put on at the festival where music meets films. Korea’s star musicans such as Lee Seung-hwan, DJ DOC and Jeong Yeop, and various independent musicans will give performances, crossing over genres at a lakeside stage in Jecheon at summer nights.
 
The organizing committee selected Choi Si-won and Han Seon-hwa as honorary ambassadors for the festival. Choi is a member of the boy group Super Junior and has worked as actors in China and Hollywood while Han is active as a member of the girl group Secret. The Grand Prize winner at the World Music Film Today (International Competition) will be the official closing film of the festival.
