Dancing Princess (2005) which featured MOON Geun-young and PARK Geon-hyeong, is set to be remade as a Chinese film. Culturecap Korea, the producers that made Dancing Princess and My Little Bride (2004), is partnering up with a major Chinese producing company. Currently the project is underway and the first draft of the scenario is complete. The makers are planning to cast a Chinese male lead and a Korean female lead. Once casting is complete, shooting is set to follow straight away.
The Chinese version of the Dancing Princess will also focus on dance, just like the original. However, a large part of the remake will deal with the cultural differences between the male and female protagonists and will show the process of how the couple falls in love despite their differences. In the original, the protagonists were a Korean male dancer and a Korean-Chinese actress. The filming will take place in both Korea (about 40%) and China (about 60%). The majority of the Korean shoots will take place in Busan.
There is some buzz surrounding the remake of Dancing Princess due to the involvement of the Chinese film channel, CCTV6 which is participating as an investor. The Chinese industry observers anticipated a successful run for the film when it is released.
