Cannes Favs, HONG Sangsoo and Korean Animation to Screen in UK
The BFI London Film Festival has invited four Korean films and another Korean co-production to participate in this year’s 58th edition. In addition to Cannes invitees
A Girl at My Door and
A Hard Day, the festival will also screen the 16th film of auteur
HONG Sangsoo and the debut animation
The Satellite Girl and Milk Cow. Giorgi Palfi’s
Free Fall, a France-Hungary-South Korea co-production, is also on the program.

KIM Sae-ron, and
KIM Seong-hun’s blackly comic action-thriller
A Hard Day will both have their UK premieres at in London next month. Earlier this year,
A Girl at My Door was picked up for UK distribution by Peccadillo Pictures.
Following its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival and invitations to the Toronto and
Busan International Film Festivals, HONG Sangsoo’s
Hill of Freedom is also headed to London. Starring KASE Ryu and
MOON So-ri, and mostly in English, the 67-minute film marks the eighth time that HONG has been featured at the BFI London Film Festival.
Animation director JANG Hyun-yun’s first feature foray The Satellite Girl and Milk Cow, which picked up the Jury Special Mention Award in the Animation Competition at this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival, is also on the program, along with Hungarian cineast Giorgi Palfi’s Free Fall, which was one of this year’s feature length Jeonju Digital Projects. The 58th BFI London Film Festival will take place over October 8th to 19th.
