Ahead of its 5th edition,
DMZ Korean International Documentary Film Festival (
DMZ Docs) will collect documentaries for its competition section until July 1st. DMZ Docs has grown fast by screening the world’s most prominent documentaries and searching for talented directors with the concept of ‘DMZ of Peace, Life and Communication’ every year.
The competition section of DMZ Docs, as a program to introduce the latest films of promising directors to lead the future of documentary films, has caught attention from the public with timely materials. The festival sometimes has introduced exceptional hit films such as
Two Doors,
Turn It Up to Eleven 2 : Wild Days and
Goodbye Homerun.
The competition section of the 5th DMZ Docs is waiting for documentaries made in Korea or abroad after January 1st, 2012, which arouse interest in peace, life and communication and expand the aesthetic function of documentaries. A film for the international competition section has to be 40 minutes or longer while there is no limitation on the of running time for Korean competition and youth competition entries.
The festival will treat KRW 15 million(USD 13.500) to the winner of Grand Prize (White Goose Award) and KRW 7 million (USD 6.300) to the winner of the Special Jury Award in the International Competition, KRW 10 million (USD 9,000) to the winner of the Best Korean Documentary Award in the Korean Competition section and KRW 3 million (USD 2.700) and trophies to Audience Awards in the International Competition section and the Korean Competition section.
The submission session will last until July 1st. Desired participants can download the application form from the homapage of the festival (
www.dmzdocs.com) and hand in the filled form with a preview DVD or a digital film (avi/ wmv/ mpeg/ mov). The 5th DMZ Docs will be held between October 17th and 23rd.
