An unknown actor Hojoon somehow becomes a recognized YouTuber called Hosama in the fishing world. After he fails an audition, he goes to a fishing spot to make a living. There, he bumps into the director in whose film he longs to be cast. The director calls actress Heejin with more interest than just business, and the three people realize that they have met each other in different positions. The fundamental idea of Small Fry, directed by Park Joongha, is the keyword ‘to fish.’ Hojoon wants to fish for the director and the script, and the director tries to fish Heejin. Heejin also hopes to catch a fish called casting confirmation in the director’s film. As the film develops in its limited setting and focuses on one keyword, it could become monotonous. However, with unexpected developments and vivid dialogues, Small Fry doesn’t allow anyone to get bored. Like Hojoon’s line, “Couldn’t I try to throw a paste bait even though I am a mediocrity and without shit?”, the pathos of ordinary people who long for greatness appeals.
