On Jindo Island, where the legacy of ancient gods still lingers, a vanishing tradition struggles to survive – the shamanic lineage of Danggol. Myung-gil, a graduate student in Korean literature with maternal roots in Jindo, has long harbored a deep fascination with Korean shamanism. Drawn to the stories of hereditary shamans known as Danggol, whose families have passed down the spiritual craft for generations, she begins her research into this fading world. When she receives a tip about a rare artifact known as the Danggolpan – a piece that could prove crucial to her studies – she rushes to Jindo, only to meet dead ends at every turn. Undeterred, Myung-gil digs deeper into the island’s secretive shamanic practices, tracing the elusive remnants of Danggol through hushed whispers and hidden rituals. But the closer she gets to the truth behind the Danggolpan, the stronger a dark and foreboding presence begins to grow. Guided, or perhaps trapped, by the enigmatic shamans, Filsoon Bosal and Chunhee, Myung-gil is soon pulled into a nightmarish descent where reality blurs, and ancient spirits awaken.
