The Korean Film Council (Chairman KIM Eui-suk, KOFIC) will be participating in the upcoming Screen Singapore. The event which will be held from December 9th to the 12th this year at Marina Bay Sands covers a variety of filmed entertainment. The first edition of the event was timed with the 40th anniversary of independence of Singapore in 2005 and since then has grown to be known as a showcase for important Singaporean cinema.
KOFIC will attend the festival and organize a session called ‘Korea-Singapore Co-Production Seminar’. Taking place on the 11th at the Singapore Pavilion, the session will be moderated by Joachim NG, Director of Industry at Media Development Authority Singapore and Director of the Singapore Film Commission. Among the speakers, CHOI Pyung-ho of Union Investment Partners and Kevin Balhetchet, CEO of Hub Media, will be present.
Other than the co-production seminar, Korean films were invited to screen at the festival. A total of seven films were programmed including Alive in the Asian Feature Film Competition section, and 18-Eighteen Noir, Confession, and One on One in the Asian Vision section. Screen Singapore created a special program for the other three films under the banner ‘Tribute to IM Kwon-taek', which includes Revivre, Village in the Mist (1983) and Mandara (1981). IM Kwon-taek and PARK Jung-bum will be in attendance for their screenings.
