Gui-nam, an obstetrician, is diagnosed as being infertile by his friend and doctor Keun-ho. Gui-nam returns home in shock and accidentally lies to his wife, Woo-hee, saying she is the one who is infertile. In order to get an inheritance from Woo-hee’s father, the couple decides to fake a pregnancy. Meanwhile, Me-ja, a woman who lies in the house with a blue door in a poor, mountaintop area, gets unintendedly pregnant and decides to sell her cherished sneakers to pay for an abortion. That night, Me-ja’s partner and the baby’s father, Dal-su, insists on taking the house deposit money, and Me-ja is forced to tell him about being pregnant. After having the abortion at Gui-nam’s clinic, Dal-su dreams of winning the first prize lottery. In the dream, three tigers appear in the dark, attack, and Dal-su’s fingers get cut off while fighting them to keep the lottery ticket, then Dal-su wakes up. Later, Me-ja and Dal-su learn that the baby is still alive inside Me-ja and go to Gui-nam. Woo-hee suggests paying for the baby first before it is born and says she will adopt. With the baby as collateral, Me-ja and Dal-su are able to move into a nice, new condo near a park. Time goes by and Me-ja’s stomach gradually grows, but Gui-nam learns there is a problem with the baby.
