For its next project, Rosetta Cinema and KIM intended to create a fictionalized account of the events of the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong in 2002, a naval clash with the North that took the life of 6 South Korean soldiers. This topic being politically sensitive in Korea, the company struggled to secure funding only to lose the support of a big studio right before starting production. It would eventually take ROSETTA CINEMA several more years and a successful crowdfunding campaign (around USD 2 million – a third of the budget – pledged by 7,000 backers) to resume the project.
