NeMaf was founded in 2000 as an independent media art festival of alternative video. Since then, NeMaf has been deconstructing the borders between video and art with creative energy and devotion. It is committed to showcasing new media art works that suggest new ideas and new uses for art and media, with the goal of discovering and supporting artists with potential. The event is very participatory and encourages interaction between artists and attendees.
As a festival that has been developing and producing new film and art genres, it has previously explored media genres such as media symphony (rhythm and image), image poem (prose accompanied by a mental picture), visual performance, digital media art, video activism, video diaries, and B-grade kitsch cinema. NeMaf is at the forefront of experimentalism, exuding a vibrant imagination and reinventing innovation in the film/media/image arts.
