  • Sep 20, 2011
  •

Busan’s 6th Asian Film Market has announced “explosive growth” this year, with a 67% increase in sales booths and a 24% increase in participant registration year-on-year.

With the opening of the new Busan Cinema Center this year, the Asian Film Market will also move to the BEXCO (Busan Exhibition Convention Center) and run Oct. 10 – 13, parallel to the Busan International Film Festival Oct. 6 – 14.

The market has also announced U.S. and Japanese sales companies have doubled in number and the total number of exhibiting companies has gone up 14%. Some exhibitors will be sharing booths, as in the case of the companies in the Korean Film Council umbrella booth which organizers have described in advance as “massive”.

Market screenings have increased from 39 to 60 films. The number of screening sessions has also gone up from 47 to 64. In accordance, this year the market will hold screenings in six theaters instead of last year’s four.

Organizers expect the total number of participants to go up during the online registration period which lasts until Oct. 3 and during the on-site registration period that starts with the market.

For more Asian Film Market registration information go to www.asianfilmmarket.org.

At this point in time, the market provides registered badge holders 26 films from Asian Project Market (APM) directors’ filmography; 29 films that are looking for international sales agents, and 23 selections of the upcoming Busan International Film Festival.

Online screenings will be available until Oct. 31 for market badge holders. For inquiries and screenings, go to http://os.asianfilmmarket.org.
